Certifications

The Group follows strict guidelines on food safety and agricultural practices, established by both international programs (such as HACCP, PPECB and BRC Global Standards) and local supply chains around the world.

Standards and certifications

Unifrutti’s product standards are none other than excellence. To guarantee customers the product they deserve, we have always considered the highest fruit quality as the average product level. The responsibility to provide the best quality fresh fruit in any season means following the strictest global guidelines and achieving maximum production efficiency.

Regardless of the season or the place of production, Unifrutti establishes the same regulations and controls in the supply chain, with the purpose of producing in the most efficient and sustainable way, respecting both workers and the environment. Because for us excellence also means providing a better quality of life for all human beings.

GLOBAL GAP

International standard recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), which ensures compliance with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and guarantees that the products offered meet high standards in quality and safety, considering aspects such as food safety and traceability, environment, health, safety and welfare of workers, Integrated Crop Management, among others. Unifrutti's teams in all areas support growers to achieve and maintain this certification year after year and some of the complementary modules, depending on the requirements of our customers.

FSMA Unifrutti

FSMA

(implemented in part of our growers) The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) establishes minimum standards for fruits and vegetables grown and handled for human consumption. Globalgap's FSMA module, while not a substitute for a regulatory visit, supports growers in implementing these requirements.

BRCGS

Our plants are audited annually under the BRCGS standard, which provides an internationally recognized framework for managing product safety, integrity, legality and quality. In addition, to ensure compliance with the requirements of the FSMA Act of the United States regarding Preventive Controls for food for human consumption, our plants audit the FSMA module of BRC.

TESCO NURTURE

This Globalgap module is exclusive to TESCO's international retail chain and aims to assure consumers that fruit and vegetables from TESCO's suppliers are grown in an environmentally responsible manner.

GRASP

Globalgap module that corresponds to a voluntary certification that aims to assess social risks in primary production and support producers in solving different social problems.

SEDEX

Unifrutti, as an active member of SEDEX, shares self-assessment questionnaires on ethical issues to customers upon request through the SEDEX platform. In addition, all its Packaging Centers are audited under the SMETA ethical standard at least every two years.

SMETA

Ethical trade audit for SEDEX members, which helps implement labor, health and safety, environmental performance and ethical standards within the operation, protecting workers from unsafe conditions, overwork, discrimination, low wages and forced labor.
